Almost 43 years ago, a boy was born in a poor neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan and was named Marshall Bruce Mathers III during a near death operation after a 72 hour labor of an under age 17 year old mother from a 21 year old father who left him when he was only 18 months and after that, because of their financial crisis, they moved to different places. Their house was subjected to burgulars multiple times and he was beaten up and often bullied by some african americans and at school. Once, he was beaten so badly that he went into a week long coma. He wrote letters to his father while being a teenager, all of them were left unanswered. His mother used to sell and do Heroine or Crack Cocaine to fulfill their financial needs. He did not go on well with his mother, often fought with her because his mother almost aborted him, often threw him out of the house and did not treat him well. When he became famous, she said she was responsible for his success(attention seeker). Adding more to his misery, his beloved uncle Ronnie died after which he went into a shock and stopped speaking for several days. His best and childhood friend Proof died in 2006, leaving him in endless tears. Having a difficult married life, he divorced his love Kim twice and raised his daughter through some difficulties. He had narcotic problems and addiction that led to a hiatus and some time in rehab. He almost died after having an overdose which led to a 5 year Hiatus.
He then decided to turn his interest to rap music, beginning writing and singing at age of 14. He befriended Proof and they began free style rapping and battling. Years passed on, he became an underground rap sensation and released some albums under the name of M&M and joined some rap groups. He released his first album Infinite and later he participated in rap olympics, stood as runner-up and later was signed by Dr.Dre to his record label, the first step toward his highly successful career. He released Slim Shady LP, to a high critical acclaim and some highly successful singles. He then released MMLP which set new records and became the fastest selling album in the history of America. It is regarded as one of the best albums ever made and very best of 2000s The album went for a diamond certification. He then released the Grammy winning The Eminem Show which also garnered critical acclaim and got a diamond certification too. MMLP and Eminem Show are 2 of the 3 best selling Hip-Hop albums of all time and one of the very best of all time. During this time he released some of the best songs ever, Lose Yourself and Stan. Lose Yourself, his signature song,was regarded as the best song of 2002&2003 and peaked at hot 100 at no. 1 for 12 weeks alongside 2 Grammys, accompanied by an Oscar. While Stan is his trademark song, his fans are known as Stans(Evidently I'm one of them) and the term has also been used by many other artists to label their fans. Stan is one of the best songs ever and possibly the best rap song ever. These two are the only hip-hop songs to be included in Rolling Stone 500 best songs ever. He then kickstarted his acting career with 8 Mile, a partial biopic of himself which went on to win an Academy and he won few best actor awards as well. Later in the decade, he went on to release Encore, Relapse which were positively released and were sold very highly. These albums led him to the once in a decade award in the name of Billboard artist of the decade.
In 2010, he released Recovery which was best selling of 2010 and won grammys. He released Love the way you Lie with Rihanna and Not Afraid which peaked at no. 1 on Billboard hot 100. Got highly positive reviews for Hell:The Sequel and MMLP2. Released Rap God which set a Guiness Record for most words in a song. His successful career is ongoing and there is a lot more to come from him.
